Andrew Bailey says drivers of inflation will not last longer
Bank of England (BoE) Governor, Andrew Bailey, in his speech, stated that the central bank does not expect the factors causing rise in inflation to persist, but it would monitor the situation very carefully.
US PPI rose more than expected in April
In the US, producer prices registered a rise of 6.20% on a YoY basis in April, compared to an advance of 4.20% in the previous month. Markets were expecting the PPI to record a rise of 5.90%.
US initial jobless claims fell more than anticipated in the week ended 7 May 2021
In the US, the seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims dropped to 473.00 K in the week ended 7 May 2021, compared to a revised reading of 507.00 K in the previous week. Markets were expecting the number of initial jobless claims to ease to a level of 490.00 K.
