The California Homebuilding Foundation is announcing the retirement of its long-serving Executive Director, Terri Brunson, and the promotion of Jill Herman to Executive Director and Joe Sanchez to Deputy Director. This leadership transition marks an exciting new chapter for the Foundation as it continues its mission to advance the homebuilding industry through scholarships, research, education, and workforce development.

Terri Brunson has been a cornerstone of the California Homebuilding Foundation since 2004, starting as the Foundation's Education Manager before assuming the role of Executive Director in 2012. During her tenure, Terri led numerous initiatives, most notably the Foundation's efforts to expand hands-on construction education programs to high schools statewide, significantly grow endowments and scholarship programs, and produce the annual Hall of Fame gala. All these efforts have left an indelible mark on the organization and the broader homebuilding community. Her dedication, leadership, and vision have elevated the California Homebuilding Foundation to new heights, and the Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude for her years of service.

Jill Herman Promoted to Executive Director

Jill Herman, a key member of the California Homebuilding Foundation since 2012, has most recently held the role of Program Director. With a background in marketing and sociology and extensive experience in program development, event planning, and grant management, Jill has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision. Her accomplishments include overseeing the tremendous growth of the Donald Chaiken Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA), the statewide high school construction education curriculum and spearheading workforce development programs. Jill's passion for organizational growth and innovation makes her the ideal candidate to lead the California Homebuilding Foundation into the future.

Joe Sanchez Appointed Deputy Director

Joe Sanchez, currently serving as Research Director at the California Homebuilding Foundation, brings extensive experience in data-driven initiatives, strategic partnerships, and workforce development. Holding dual degrees in Political Science and Ethnic Studies from California State University, Sacramento, Joe has played a pivotal role in advancing the Foundation’s research and internship programs, creating valuable opportunities for emerging talent. His contributions to the Construction Industry Research Board (CIRB) have enhanced the accuracy and accessibility of building permit data across California. Joe’s expertise in analytics, policy development, and community engagement will continue to strengthen the impact and reach of the California Homebuilding Foundation.

Looking Ahead

The Foundation is excited about this new chapter and confident that the combined leadership of Jill Herman and Joe Sanchez will build on the organization's success and drive continued growth and innovation.

"I am truly honored to follow in Terri's footsteps and lead the California Homebuilding Foundation into the future," said Jill Herman. "With Joe as my Deputy Director and the steadfast support of our Board of Trustees, we are dedicated to advancing the Foundation's mission and creating a lasting, positive impact on California's homebuilding industry."
