outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
LyondellBasell's (LYB) oil refinery in Houston, Texas, reported
a brief emissions event from a hydrodesulfirization unit related to
a valve issue at a tank Saturday evening, according to a filing
with state environmental regulators. The valve pressure was
corrected.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) Saturday reported a spill of less than three
gallons of benzene owing to equipment failure at its Pascagoula,
Mississippi, refinery, a filing to the U.S. National Response
Center said. No further details were provided.
Sunoco Inc (SUN) said Thursday it will sell its Toledo, Ohio,
refinery to PBF Holding Co. LLC for $400 million. The deal is
expected to close in first quarter 2011.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) Thursday said planned flaring will occur at
its Wilmington, California, refinery starting Sunday and ending
Tuesday; the event is not associated with equipment breakdown; a
filing to state environmental regulators said.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said on Thursday that production at its
Joliet, Illinois, refinery was minimally affected by an upset
Wednesday at a process unit boiler. All customer needs will be met,
the Company added.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said on Thursday operations at its
Benicia, Calif., refinery returned to normal quickly following a
brief upset on Wednesday at the plant's key gasoline-making fluid
catalytic cracking unit.
Chevron (CVX) Tuesday advanced planned FCCU maintenance at its
Pascagoula, Mississippi, refinery; the work was originally
scheduled for January, a person familiar with operations at the
plant said. The unit was experiencing mechanical problems; the
repairs are expected to take 20 to 30 days.
Valero Energy (VLO) Tuesday said the FCCU at its Memphis,
Tennessee, refinery was shut unplanned for maintenance. The restart
timing is not yet known, but Valero does not expect it to be a
lengthy outage.
