The commuter rail maintenance facility is part of Fluor’s Eagle
P3 Project to design, build, finance, operate and maintain three
commuter rail lines that are scheduled to open in 2016.
The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC), is the foremost program for design, construction
and operation of green buildings, improving environmental and human
health performance.
The 230,000-square-foot facility’s sustainable features were
evaluated based on the long-term environmental and fiscal impact
benefiting the operation of the facility as well as the local
community.
“This facility will benefit the community for years to come,”
said Terry Towle, Fluor’s Infrastructure president. “Fluor's
collaborative approach to project development, execution and
delivery enhanced the sustainable features of this facility, which
is recognized by the achievement of LEED Gold certification.”
After a LEED plaque dedication on Saturday, July 25, with
speakers from Fluor, PCL Construction (the design-build
subcontractor) and RTD, the commuter rail maintenance facility was
opened for public tours.
The Denver Eagle P3 Project was awarded by RTD to the Fluor-led
joint venture of Denver Transit Partners in July 2010. Denver
Transit Partners is comprised of a partnership between Fluor
Enterprises, Inc., a unit of Fluor Corporation; Denver Rail (Eagle)
Holdings, Inc., a unit of John Laing plc; Aberdeen Infrastructure
Investments (No. 4) USA LLC, a unit of Aberdeen Global
Infrastructure Partners LP. Other team members include Balfour
Beatty Rail Inc., ACI, Ames Construction and HDR.
