HANCOCKS BRIDGE, N.J., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- PSEG Nuclear
announced a $250,000 PSEG Foundation donation today to support
local nonprofit Ranch Hope and its expanding programs serving
hundreds of children throughout New Jersey and the Delaware Valley
region. "Today we are honored to partner with Ranch Hope and
support their work on behalf of children," said Tom Joyce, senior
vice president of operations at PSEG Nuclear. "It is our hope that
others will follow our lead so that Ranch Hope can help even more
children in need." Ranch Hope's current capital campaign, 'Building
Our Future Today', seeks to raise $5 million to create a
"one-of-a-kind" treatment community for at-risk youth with
residential facilities that are environmentally responsible, energy
efficient and healthy for children and staff to live and work. This
initiative is consistent with Ranch Hope's long-range plan to
transform its Alloway campus into a "green" community. "Ranch Hope
is to be commended for designing facilities that use renewables and
improve energy efficiency," said Joyce. "Efforts like this along
with our work to provide safe, clean and reliable energy at PSEG
Nuclear reinforces the role everyone can play in protecting our
environment." The six treatment homes currently on Ranch Hope's
campus were built over a period of 14 years beginning in 1964 when
the organization first opened it doors. After 30 to 40 years of use
by thousands of children, the facilities are in need of expansion
and repair to equal the high quality programming provided, reduce
maintenance and increase energy efficiency. "This is a unique
partnership that not only focuses on changing the lives of
children, but also energy efficiency -- two topics you don't
normally see together," said Dave Bailey, Jr., Ranch Hope executive
director. "At Ranch Hope, we believe that we are entrusted to be
good stewards of not only the children and families we serve, but
also of the environment in which the children live and learn each
day." In addition to new housing, the capital campaign will provide
the funds to re-locate outdoor athletic facilities and construct a
new wastewater treatment infrastructure on the campus. Other goals
of the campaign are to increase the organization's endowment fund,
which is used to insure the long-range stability of the ministry
and to provide scholarships for behavioral healthcare services and
summer camps. "The entire Ranch Hope family is thrilled to have
PSEG Nuclear join the 'Building Our Future Today' campaign," said
Bailey. "Both PSEG and Ranch Hope are focused on providing high
quality services to the people of New Jersey. This gift is a clear
example of a leader in industry taking a leadership role in
changing the lives of our children." PSEG Nuclear operates the two
unit Salem Generating Station and single unit Hope Creek Generating
Station on one site in Salem County. The nuclear units provide over
3,500 megawatts of electricity enough to power 2.8 million homes.
The $250,000 donation to Ranch Hope will be paid in equal
installments over a five-year period. In addition to Ranch Hope,
PSEG Nuclear is a proud supporter of dozens of community programs
throughout South Jersey and Delaware. PSEG Nuclear is a part of
PSEG Power, one of the nation's largest independent power producers
and a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated
(PSEG/NYSE: PEG), a diversified energy holding company. PSEG's
