ITF Labs Has Taken Fiber Combiners to New Levels With its New High
Power Packaging Design (HPPD) MONTREAL, March 19
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Avensys Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary
of Manaris Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: MANS; Frankfurt WKN:
A0F5LD) announced that in a joint effort with its R&D partner,
ITF Labs, has demonstrated a HPPD capable of handling over a
kilowatt (KW) in a fiber combiner. This groundbreaking addition to
the ITF Labs and Avensys Inc. product line continues the Company's
tradition of reliable, robust and innovative all-fiber(TM)
components and represents the last key component required for Mid-
and High- power Integrated Fiber Lasers (IFL). This innovation now
provides Fiber Laser manufacturers with the ability to build
powerful fiber lasers capable of replacing traditional laser
technology in markets where fiber lasers haven't been able to
compete so far. "It's our intention to supply our customers with
both components and IFL engines and continue to assert our position
as world leaders in advanced, innovative all-fiber components,"
says Mr. Hassan Kassi President and CEO of ITF Labs. The fiber
laser, a laser technology that uses optical fiber as the gain
medium, is set to capture a large share of the $2 billion
industrial laser market from conventional laser technologies, even
in the prominent kilowatt-class laser market. According to a report
from Strategies Unlimited, a leading market research firm covering
optoelectronics markets, sales of fiber lasers are expected to have
an unusually strong compound annual growth of over 35% through 2010
in an industrial laser market that will grow just 9% per year over
the same period. The immediate opportunity for Fiber Laser
Technology is the replacement of ND: YAG Lasers and CO2 Lasers used
essentially for industrial applications like welding, cutting,
drilling and marking applications. Avensys owns 42% of ITF Labs and
was created as a result of the acquisition of ITF Optical
Technologies Inc. (ITF) by Avensys last April by merging ITF's
Research and Development unit, including all of its intellectual
property assets with that of Avensys' partner, Avensys Laboratories
Inc. ITF Laboratories spearheads the development of ultra-reliable
fiber-optic systems including high-power fused components, optical
sensors and instrumentation and fiber laser components. About
