Apple to invest $500bn in US expansion, adding 20,000 jobs and AI facilities
By: Investing.com | February 24, 2025
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced plans to invest $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years, marking its largest-ever domestic investment.
The initiative will focus on artificial intelligence, silicon engineering, and advanced manufacturing, creating around 20,000 new jobs across multiple states, with the vast majority focused on R&D, silicon engineering, software development, and AI and machine learning.
“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook.
As part of the investment, Apple will open a new manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, dedicated to producing servers for Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI-powered personal assistant system.
The 250,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2026 and will create thousands of jobs. The new AI servers will power Private Cloud Compute, Apple’s secure AI cloud processing system.
Apple is also doubling its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund to $10 billion, supporting domestic manufacturing and chip production. The iPhone maker said a significant portion will go toward silicon production at TSMC’s Fab 21 facility in Arizona, where Apple is the largest customer.
Additionally, Apple will launch a Manufacturing Academy in Detroit, partnering with universities such as Michigan State to train businesses and workers in AI-driven smart manufacturing techniques.
The investment also includes expanding Apple’s R&D centers nationwide, with a focus on custom silicon, AI, and machine learning.
The company’s investments will expand data center capacity in North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada to support its growing AI infrastructure.
Wedbush described the move by Apple as strategic, as the company continues “diversifying its manufacturing strategy in both the US and globally while also playing well into Trump’s US investment theme given the $500 billion Project Stargate announced earlier this year.
“Cook continues to prove that he is 10% politician and 90% CEO and times like this he will be using his strong ties globally to make sure its smoother waters for Cupertino ahead despite the market agita around AAPL’s growth initiatives with Trump heading down the tariff threat path,” added the firm.

Mobile phone explodes in Karkala, sets house on fire
A mobile phone explosion while charging triggered a devastating fire early Saturday morning, destroying an entire house in Marathappa Shetty Colony, 11th Cross, Tellaru Road. The explosion, which occurred around 4 am, resulted in massive damage, with losses running into several lakhs of rupees at the residence of Kishore Kumar Shetty.
The phone, which was placed on a sofa, exploded and instantly ignited a fierce blaze that quickly spread throughout the two-storey house with six rooms. Firefighters rushed to the scene after being notified, battling the flames for over two and a half hours before managing to bring the fire under control. It’s believed that the air conditioner, which was on at the time, helped the fire spread faster.

How does EMF cause lithium batteries to experience thermal runaway and thus spontaneously combust? One of two main ways:
#1 - Overcharge/Discharge
With various impressed external magnetic field intensities an effect was noticed on the charge and discharge curves as well as the charge and mass concentrations within the batteries. With the two-dimensional model starting from 0mT and going to 1mT had the effect of discharging the battery faster and charging the battery faster. With the two-dimensional model starting from 1mT and going to -1mT had the effect of charging the battery faster. In either case an effect on the various characteristics of the battery were studied. With the experiments conducted on the two types of batteries the effect was more profound than subtle. Discharge times were twice as fast and charge times were equally
affected. With the smaller batteries they all generally charged faster under the presence of a magnetic field due to more uniform penetration. In the presence of the field they also discharged faster. The larger batteries would not see the same uniform penetration because only a small area of the battery sees the center of the coil it is placed on
In this dissertation, they found that external magnetic fields significantly increased charge and discharge rates in individual lithium battery cells; like shown in the following image. They also found that smaller batteries were impacted to a greater degree than larger ones. This is likely a reason Tesla is switching to larger battery cells in addition to employing magnetic attenuating honeycomb sandwich battery pack.

Airline becomes first in the world to ban popular phone gadget after horror plane fire
After a plane caught fire in South Korea, Air Busan announced passengers will no longer be allowed to store portable chargers in overhead compartments due to safety reasons
An airline based in South Korea has become the first in the world to ban portable charges from being stored in overhead compartments days after a passenger plane caught fire before take-off.
Air Busan has announced passengers will no longer be allowed to store the popular gadget in their hand luggage, but will need to keep it either on their person or in bags placed under seats. The "pre-emptive measure" was introduced after the rear parts of an Airbus plane that was preparing to leave for Hong Kong caught fire at Gimhae International Airport in the southeast of the country on January 28.

This seems silly. If they really wanted to protect people and their planes, then they should be banning cellphones and laptops and these battery charges period. Course thats bad for business. Still all 3 types of devices have spontaneously combusted in an airplane. Apparently at least twice a week.

It’s great to hear a perspective from someone actually working within the company—it adds valuable context to the discussion! A year-over-year growth of 150% does sound exaggerated, especially considering your insight about the total chain increase being closer to the 20-30% range, pending audits. Even so, a 20-30% increase is nothing to scoff at, particularly in a challenging retail environment.
The factors you mentioned, like Circuit City’s bankruptcy and CompUSA’s closure, likely played a significant role in driving more customers your way. It’s also no surprise that sales have been strong given the reduced competition and the increasing demand for electronics. Your mention of being “slammed for weeks” highlights the pressure on retail workers during these shifts in the market—kudos to you and your team for keeping up with the demand!
It would be interesting to see how this surge in sales impacts the company’s long-term strategy. Are there any signs internally that this growth might lead to further expansion or investments? Also, with the increasing demand for electronics, there’s bound to be a growing focus on components like DRAM https://serverorbit.com/pc-and-server-memory/dram, which are essential for both individual consumers and enterprise clients. Thanks for sharing this insider perspective!

This deserves to be examined as Oklahoma City Fire Department is warning the public about the dangers of lithium batteries, a battery is alot of technology we depend on. Yet this battery type is very unstable. In China they are pushing people to exchange older lithium battery e-bikes for lead acid batteries. China has a density problem and thus greater lithium density. Thus when these batteries spontaneously combust like this, its a greater potential hazard for them. I wouldnt be surprised to see more of this.

Recent phone fire leads Oklahoma City Fire Department to warn the public
In a post on social media, an OCFD spokesperson says a man’s phone caught fire when they were charging it using a power bank. The phone began to hiss and smell like something was burning, and the man threw the phone to the floor and covered it with a fire blanket. He suffered a minor burn to his wrist in the process. officials said.
“A lot of times, these lithium-ion battery fires, they’ll emit some toxic fumes which is really dangerous.” Scott Douglas, OCFD’s Public Information Officer said. “So with him getting that fire blanket and re-entering that atmosphere, it’s pretty dangerous. We really want to see the occupant just get out and stay out and call 911 and let us take the job from there.”
In light of the fire, authorities with OCFD are reminding the public of steps they need to take when charging devices using a lithium-ion power supply.
Always monitor devices while charging – especially power banks and phones.
Pay attention to any hissing or steam-like sounds.
If a battery starts to burn or smoke, immediately leave the area and call 911
Do not use regular fire extinguishers on lithium battery fires.

Apple (AAPL) Stock Eyes Big Gains After Beat-and-Raise
By: Schaeffer's Investment Research | January 31, 2025
• AAPL could today mark its first weekly win in five
• No fewer than 14 analysts have raised their price targets
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) reported a top- and bottom-line beat for its fiscal first quarter after yesterday's close. The tech giant also shared a strong sales growth outlook, pointing to recovering iPhone sales amid the rollout of artificial intelligence (AI) features. No fewer than 14 analysts lifted their price targets, including Goldman Sachs to $294 from $280.
Coming into today, 15 of the 36 analysts covering Apple stock still rate it a tepid "hold" or worse. This means there's still plenty of room for upgrades amongst the brokerage bunch.
AAPL is up 4.2% to trade at $247.60 in premarket trading. Should gains hold, the equity will mark its fourth win in the last five days, and notch their best day since June. The shares are also on track for their first weekly gain in five as they extend a bounce off $220 and boast a 28.8% year-over-year lead.
While calls still outpace puts in the options pits, options traders have been more bearish than usual of late. At the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), the equity's 50-day call/put volume ratio sits higher than 80% of annual readings. An unwinding of this pessimism could boost AAPL.
It's worth noting the security has a history of exceeding volatility expectations, as evidenced by its Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) rating of 77 out of 100. In simpler terms, now may be a good time to weigh in on Apple stock's next more with options.

AAPL (Apple) What’s Happening Now
By: TrendSpider | January 25, 2025
• Apple has received multiple downgrades and sell ratings as analysts weigh weak iPhone demand and tepid AI adoption. Since 2020, AAPL has climbed 176%. However, during that time, its P/E ratio nearly doubled from 19x to 37x earnings, meaning most of its price appreciation was simply multiple expansion. Vistra Fire and Teslas Burning in California: Is it a Wake-Up Call for Battery Storage Safety?
Lithium-Ion Batteries: How Risky are They?
Lithium-ion batteries are known for their efficiency and energy density. However, their chemical composition also poses significant risks. They contain volatile electrolytes which when exposed to high temperatures or physical damage can release flammable gases.
Overcharging or overheating can lead to thermal runaway, a chain reaction of uncontrolled heating that can cause fires or explosions. When exposed to high temperatures or physical damage, the volatile electrolytes in these batteries release flammable gases.
The environmental challenges are equally concerning. Burnt-out lithium-ion batteries complicate waste management efforts, as they require specialized handling to prevent further contamination.
Even after a fire is extinguished, the risk of reignition persists. Signs of potential failure, such as bulging, cracking, or venting gases, require immediate attention to prevent catastrophic outcomes.

Cellphone lithium batteries will never cause the level of destruction of battery storage facilities, like seen recently near San Francisco, CA, but they can burn down your home. Something to keep in mind especially if you like to keep your phone on/near your bed. Honestly devices with lithium batteries should be placed in a container with at least a good fire alarm or even fire suppression system. These devices will increase in spontaneously combusting as the earths magnetic field continues to weaken and it becomes more chaotic which will expose us and our technology to odd electromagnetic anomalies. I believe this is why there has been an increase in large passenger planes malfunctioning in addition to causing Teslas to go out of control/spontaneously combust.

Burning Teslas, fried battery storage systems add to toxic mix hindering LA wildfire cleanup
https://www.dailynews.com/2025/01/17/burning-teslas-fried-battery-storage-systems-slow-la-return/
While yes lithium batteries increase toxicity remaining from the LA fires, what should have been the headline, is how these batteries aided the LA fires... Lithium batteries are like little bombs spread out because the tech is so heavily used and so unstable. Heck it wasnt long ago some lithium powder spontaneously combusted in Florida.

#2 - Stimulation of Dendrite Growth
Thermoelectric current causes asymmetric growth pattern of dendrites.
thermoelectromagnetic convection occurs in the vicinity of the solid-liquid interface, and vortices are generated between dendritic arms. It is shown that the thermoelectromagnetic convection has a major influence on dendritic morphology.
