ANNAPOLIS, Md., May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/
-- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a
world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication
technology, today announced it has received JF-12 certification
from the U.S. Army Spectrum Management Office for its Tactical
Transportable TROPO (3T) system. TCS' 3T system now joins its JF-12
certified Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet
Protocol Router Access Point (SNAP) 1.2 and 2.0 meter Very Small
Aperture Terminal (VSAT) systems in achieving this certification.
Users of spectrum-dependent equipment, such as the 3T system, must
have a formally approved frequency authorization or license
assignment from the appropriate local spectrum manager or
responsible authority before operating the equipment.
News Facts:
- The 3T system is a combination of the TCS battle-tested SNAP
VSAT system and Comtech Systems' newest IP-capable troposcatter
technology terminal, the Modular Transportable Troposcatter System,
which offers significant advances in technology with a much smaller
form factor than legacy systems.
- The SNAP 1.2 and SNAP 2.0 VSAT terminals are pack-in-the-box
VSAT solutions for military applications. Field-upgradeable to X-,
Ku- or Ka-band with a simple swap of the feed boom assembly, the
terminals are designed for rapid deployment, ease of use and
suitability for harsh operating environments. The TCS SNAP 1.2 and
2.0 terminals interface with the TCS ImpactTM baseband
packages, enabling an extension of a common IP operating
environment over a global network.
- JF-12 spectrum certification of the 3T system provides the
joint user community with easier and faster access to global
frequencies. When deploying a 3T system in an operational area,
JF-12 certification allows a simple notification process upon
arrival, instead of a more time-consuming process for non-certified
equipment.
For the past 25 years, TCS has established a proven track record
as a trusted provider of communication technology solutions to
solve the government's toughest technical challenges, under
conditions that demand the highest level of reliability,
availability and security. To ensure mission continuity and to meet
the need for more flexible, mobile wireless services, TCS
TotalCom® offers deployable, highly secure communication
solutions and complete end-to-end managed services for converged
(IP-based) voice, video and data solutions to organizations
requiring seamless and secure connectivity between fixed sites and
remote operations around the world.
Supporting Quote:
TCS President of Government Solutions Michael Bristol, said, "The military depends
on proven, reliable communications systems in order to achieve
mission success. TCS' 3T system provides a cost-effective, secure
and easily deployable alternative to satellite communications. Now,
with the JF-12 certification, 3T's approved frequency assignment
facilitates even faster access to global communication networks,
making this solution an even stronger option when meeting the need
for rapid connectivity."
