Sybase 365's mFolio Personalized Mobile Web and RSS Service
Delivers Customized Lists of Favorite News, Sports, Blogs, and More
BARCELONA, Spain, 3GSM WORLD CONGRESS, Feb. 12
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sybase 365(TM), the global leader in the
delivery and settlement of messaging interoperability as well as
the management and distribution of mobile content, today announced
the availability of its new managed service offering to the more
than 4.6 million customers of Virgin Mobile USA, providing quick
and simple access to RSS (Really Simple Syndication) content and
blogs from any source on the Web. This new Virgin Mobile offering,
named "Web Feeds and Blogs," is available through the "VirginXL"
platform, and will enable customers to select -- and read via a
mobile device -- any publicly-available Web RSS feed and blog
content. The new offering, based on the Sybase 365 mFolio(TM)
mobile application, enables Virgin Mobile customers to create
personalized lists of their favorite RSS feeds and blogs -- from
news and sports to music information and personal blogs. mFolio is
an advanced mobile browsing technology that delivers device-
optimized mobile Web and syndicated content experience to an
operator's end- user. By using RSS, Virgin Mobile customers can
receive continually updated content and articles from their
favorite Web pages, and receive a quick glance at what has changed.
Content is then delivered to the customer's phone, providing a
unique, mobile Web experience. "We believe this new offering will
deliver a mobile Internet experience individualized to fit each
customer's interests and needs," said Dom Tolli, vice president of
Mobile Data Services, Virgin Mobile USA. "Based on a trial last
year, we believe mFolio will enhance our data services offerings
and expand use of those services to an even greater number of our
customers." "Virgin Mobile's ability to offer their customers fun
and advanced data services makes them a great partner for mFolio's
unique RSS experience," said Marty Beard, president, Sybase 365.
"The content can come from anywhere on the Web, which gives their
customers an endless range of Web content choices -- specific to
their individual interests -- while accessing it on Virgin Mobile
handsets." About Virgin Mobile USA, LLC The nation's leading
