Vedanta Resources PLC (VED.LN) said Thursday that its
Indian-listed subsidiary has discovered gas in the Krishna-Godavari
Basin on the east coast of India.
Vedanta Ltd. (500295.BY) notified Indian authorities of the
discovery at the A-32 exploration well in block KG-OSN-2009/3.
Vedanta said gas flowed to the surface during well testing, but
further appraisal will be required to assess the commercial
potential of the discovery.
In July, Vedanta Resources agreed to a takeover by Volcan
Investments Ltd., the family trust of Vedanta's chairman and
founder Anil Agarwal, valuing the company at $3.07 billion. The
takeover will lead to the delisting of its shares from the London
Stock Exchange.
