The U.S. stock market on Wednesday ended the day in green,
following the Federal Reserve's (Fed) dovish tone at the conclusion
of its two-day meeting, shrugging off the falling oil worries and
deflationary concerns. Fed's Chairwoman Janet Yellen sounded positive on the economy but
noted that there was room for improvement. Yellen also stated that
inflation is running below the Fed's 2% target inflation rate, but
expects to see normalization. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones
Industrial Average (DJIA) recorded their best one day performance
in 2014. The S&P 500 advanced 2.04%, DJIA gained 1.69%, and the
Nasdaq Composite moved up 2.12%. Asian markets were mixed on
Wednesday as investors awaited the outcome of the Federal Reserve
policy meeting. The European stock market also witnessed a late
recovery, as a rebound in energy stocks and new signs of economic
stimulus measures from the European Central Bank lifted shares.
ESCO Technologies Inc. (ESCO Technologies) reported strong
fiscal fourth quarter and fiscal year 2014 results. The Company's
adjusted EPS from continuing operations for Q4 FY 2014 of
$0.51 exceeded its prior management's
guidance of $0.44 to $0.48 per share.
Net sales also improved 4.7% YoY to $151.4
million for the quarter whereas the same advanced 8.4% YoY
to $531.1 million for FY 2014.
Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. (Ethan
Allen) has relocated to a 9,000-square-foot Design Center at
Downtown Summerlin, a posh shopping and entertainment destination
at Las Vegas. The Center is double
in space and has hundreds of all-new designs referred as "The Next
Classics" on its display.
Exelis Inc. (Exelis) has won a $10.3
million US Air Force contract to upgrade Strategic Automated
Command Control System (SACCS) digital memory technology. Under the
contract, Exelis will insert a modern data storage and retrieval
technology into SACCS.
Generac Holdings Inc. (Generac Holdings) has announced the
availability of PowerPact™ automatic home standby generator for
sale following its launch on February 4,
2014 at International Builders' Show. The new PowerPact is
an 7 kW automatic backup power for home's essential circuits and
combines all the benefits of automatic operation and is available
at a starting price of $1899
MSRP.
Graphic Packaging International, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary
of Graphic Packaging Holding Company (Graphic Packaging Corp.) has
agreed to acquire a number of folding carton converting and
paperboard mill assets from Cascades' Norampac Division in
Canada for c.$39 million.
