Gold’s trajectory over the long-term is several thousand dollars higher, with an average target price of $12,500, and it only makes sense when you look at the historical growth of the metal, this according to Pierre Lassonde, chairman of Franco-Nevada.
“If I use the compounded annual growth rate over 50 years, that’s got to give you a pretty good idea of where the gold price is going to go, and if you use that number, you get $12,500 in 30 years’ time,” Lassonde told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Denver Gold Forum.

Unity (CVE:UTY) is taking a methodical approach towards its Espior gold property in the Val d'Or mining camp. FNV is creeping up slowly but surely. The last time gold was at 1240, FNV was at 69+. FNV did hit 69 before dropping down. Earnings are due March 22. This is a good company to own. If earnings are good and gold is still around 1250, it will push FNV into the 70s IMO. Any thoughts on the direction of gold this year?

FNV will be breaking 68 soon. It touched 68 today. Earnings in March. With the direction of the economic policies, may be a good thing for gold.

Gold price is rising and February is historically one of the better months for gold. FNV trying to break 68. Think if gold can get back to 1300, FNV will be in the high 70s again. Everyone every hear of NAK?

We should be seeing increases in the price of gold going forward and FNV will benefit the most. The rest of the stock market is over priced and the uncertainty and fear brought by Trump will help keep gold moving up.

Any thoughts on the effect on FNV by the November election? I heard that gold will probably go up, regardless of who gets elected. Anyone think that the price of gold will hit $1400 by December? It is probably a good bet that we will have a quarter percent rate increase at that time. Amazing that such a small increase would create such havoc on the price of gold.

Great earnings - will FNV break 80 next week?

FNV is hanging in there. Does anyone believe that gold can hit 1400 in the near future? I think that within 6 mo, it will be up there. Consumer spending will begin to wane as businesses continue to decrease their investments in their companies. The $12 trillion debt has to come into play at some point and the US needs to pay back the social security money back. With earnings coming out August 8, hopefully they will continue to show good results and that will help bump up FNV.

It seems that they invest in different gold mines so they own a portion of the gold. If gold goes up, they make money. Sometimes they have to sell the gold to pay off their debt. Thanks.

The recent results gave a boost to the stock, and it has appreciated by nearly 24% after that. The company managed to report a net profit despite decline in gold prices. The Company's revenue declined 9.2% YoY to $93.3 million and the net income declined 41.5% to $21.6 million. The royalty and stream production was in-line with the company's expectations. The Company expects to receive a total of 215,000 to 235,000 gold equivalent ounces (GEOs) from its mineral assets, and $55 to $65 million in revenue from its oil & gas assets in 2013. There was no change in the guidance. Franco-Nevada is now nearly 50% up from the low made in June. It is above important levels, and looks good form more provided the sentiments continue to improve. The valuations are getting stretched, and now it is trading at 49 times forward earnings, and the price to sales is 16.4. This makes the valuations high compared to many peers. The balance sheet remains strong with nearly $800 million cash and zero debt on June 30. The net profit margin is also 18% on a ttm basis. Gold has moved by around 18% during the last two months. It has moved beyond crucial levels, and looks good for touching the next target of $1470. However, it will need to prove itself by surviving a correction. So far the move beyond $1340 has been pretty much non-stop. What this has done is improved the sentiments significantly, and investments in development stage assets have increased. Pershing Gold (PGLC) has obtained more than $20 million funding over the last few weeks which will help it further develop its project in Nevada and start production. One important aspect of the correction in gold over the last few quarters is that now companies are much more conscious about costs. That may help the companies in the long run.
