Air China Ltd. (0753.HK) has adjusted the flight path for one of its flights between Rome and Beijing that used to fly over Ukrainian airspace, the Chinese flag carrier said Friday, after a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet was shot down in the area.

"We adjusted the flight path immediately after the incident because of safety concerns," said an Air China spokesman. He noted that the decision was to avoid flying over Ukraine, but didn't give details about the rerouted flight path.

The Chinese carrier has no other flights to Europe that would fly over the concerned airspace, he added.

Separately, Taiwan's China Airlines Ltd. (2610.TW) said it has no Europe-bound flight flying over Ukraine.

"Flights from Europe to Asia remain unchanged with a route of flying through the airspace of Romania, the republic of Bulgaria, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmen and India," the carrier said.
