BUFFALO, N.Y., June 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ecology & Environment, Inc. recently completed a multinational permitting effort for the Global Caribbean Network (GCN-1) Fiber-Optic Cable Project. The cable will be installed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Guadalupe, French West Indies, with other shore landings occurring in St. Croix, St. Maarten, St. Barthelemy and St. Kitts. E & E's permitting efforts were focused on the San Juan and French West Indies landing locations, as well as attaining an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) easement for the islands of Saint Maarten, Saba, and St. Eustatius of the Netherlands Antilles. The project included marine benthic surveys near San Juan and Isla de Culebra which required both English and Spanish language reports and French language reports for the French West Indies. During this process, E & E worked with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE); the Puerto Rico Planning Board (PRPB); Puerto Rico's Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER); National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in St. Petersburg, Florida; the Netherlands Antilles Ministry of Finance in Curacao; and various agencies of the French West Indies. The project is valued at about $330,000 to date. Ecology and Environment, Inc is headquartered in Lancaster, New York, a suburb of Buffalo.
