Symmetricom®, Inc. (NASDAQ:SYMM), a world-wide leader in precision time and frequency technologies, announced today the launch of its SyncWorld™ Ecosystem Program to support precise timing and synchronization requirements for 4G/LTE deployments that ensure seamless integration for service provider networks. The SyncWorld™ Ecosystem Program represents all elements of the mobile value chain from embedded to network equipment manufacturers. Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), Alcatel-Lucent and Cisco are among the first companies to join the program.

“Time to market demands of service providers requires everyone to pre-define interoperability parameters to ensure deployment of tested and proven solutions,” said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing at Symmetricom. “We look forward to working closely with our partners to test and integrate precise timing and synchronization solutions and support the rapid deployment of 4G/LTE networks.”

Timing and synchronization are vital to effectively deliver voice, data, video services, location-based services and applications, and E911 across networks. The SyncWorld Ecosystem Program requires interoperability testing between Symmetricom and the program members to ensure delivery of precise timing and synchronization services across the network. Service providers benefit from receiving documented test results and joint deployment guidelines developed for network engineering and planning.

“Network timing and synchronization is absolutely critical as mobile carriers make the transition to Ethernet Backhaul,” said Patrick Donegan, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. “It is imperative that the industry works together to address interoperability and conformity issues. Pre-tested, integrated timing and synchronization solutions are a very important contribution to that industry collaboration.”
