Halla Climate Systems Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Alabama SHORTER, Ala., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Halla Climate Systems Alabama Corporation (HCSA) celebrated the grand opening today of its first U.S. automotive manufacturing facility with a ceremony attended by Alabama Governor Bob Riley. The 135,000-square-foot HCSA facility is located in Shorter, Alabama, 30 miles east of the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Alabama. HCSA will provide front-end modules and heating and air conditioning systems to Hyundai for its 2005 Sonata and 2006 Santa Fe models. The $28 million facility is expected to employ approximately 150 workers by 2006. "Alabamians are proud," said Governor Riley, "that world-class companies like Halla are coming to our state and working as partners to help create new jobs. Alabama's economy is growing stronger every day and now we're seeing this growth reach into places that have needed new jobs for a long time, like Macon County." Also attending the grand opening were representatives from the Alabama Development Office, the Alabama Department of Industrial Training, Hyundai Motors, and Visteon Corporation, which has a majority equity stake in Halla Climate Control Corp. Halla Climate Systems Alabama is managed and operated by Halla Climate Control Corp. Michael F. Johnston, president and CEO of Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC), thanked Hyundai Motors for making the HCSA facility possible. "Without the growth that has resulted from Hyundai's commitment to quality, none of this would be possible," Johnston said. "We are grateful for the opportunity to supply Hyundai, and look forward to continue building this relationship as Halla Climate Systems Alabama delivers the high quality automotive systems that contribute to Hyundai's continued success." "We are very honored to be here in Alabama as a Tier One supplier to Hyundai," said Mr. Y.H. Park, managing director of HCSA. "We are committed to supplying Hyundai with high quality products and flawless service, and look forward to developing a team in Macon County that will achieve that goal. We are very excited about the future." Mr. Park thanked Shorter Mayor Willie Mae Powell and the people of Shorter for their cooperation in bringing HCSA to Alabama. "Your support of HCSA has exceeded our expectations," said Mr. Park. "Thank you for your hard work." "The people of Shorter, Ala. are pleased to welcome HCSA to our community," said Mayor Powell. "This partnership between Halla and the town of Shorter sends a message to the world that Macon County is ready and open for business."
