AZZ incorporated's Aztec Galvanizing Services Division Earns Industry Awards FORT WORTH, Texas, April 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AZZ incorporated , a manufacturer of electrical products and a provider of galvanizing services today announced that the American Galvanizing Association, a leading galvanizing industry trade association, has awarded the galvanizing division of AZZ incorporated with four "Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards." The association presents annual awards in 12 industry categories to recognize projects that utilize hot-dip galvanizing in an ideal, creative, innovative, or monumental fashion. AZZ's Aztec Galvanizing Services -- Arizona was honored in the "Original Equipment Manufacturing" category for the development of a unique protocol for U-Haul International to dip entirely assembled trailers into molten zinc baths; enabling U-Haul to eliminate all paint specifications and the inventory required to paint and re-paint trailers. In the "Building and Architecture" category the Arizona galvanizing facility won the award for its work in galvanizing "The Cloud" a signature architectural piece located at the entrance to the Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas -- one of the largest shopping centers in the United States. Hovering 128 feet above the 72,000 square foot plaza, "The Cloud" provides shade during the day and doubles as an image projection surface at night for advertising and special events. Additionally, the Arizona facility also received an award in the "Food and Agriculture" category for galvanizing the state-of-the-art Bidart Dairy Milking Facility in Bakersfield, California. Utilizing heavy tubular steel for columns, beams, and roof trusses, on down to handrails, milking stalls and gates, AZZ galvanizing processes help the milking facility meet the USDA's tough regulations and California's rigid laws for safe waste disposal and environmental care. In the "Industrial" category, AZZ's Aztec Galvanizing Services -- Houston won the award for its work on the Lomita Rail Terminal Ethanol Unloading Facility in Carson City, California. Aztec-Houston's galvanizing process enabled the more than 200 tons of galvanized tubular column frames, platform bridges, ladders, stairs and canopy rafters of the 1,000 foot-long facility to withstand the harsh industrial environment of corrosive chemical emissions, mist and fumes from refineries and train exhaust. The Lomita Terminal has the capacity to unload 95 rail cars-loaded with ethanol-in 24 hours supplying the Los Angeles market with alternative and environmentally friendly fuel whenever needed.
