Caremark Rx, Inc. today announced that it has met all criteria to become a certified PBM partner of the HR Policy Association's Prescription Drug Initiative. Caremark, a Fortune 60 company, processes more than 550 million prescriptions annually for its customers' plan participants. HR Policy Association is an association of the chief human resource officers of more than 250 of the largest employers in the United States, representing nearly every major industry sector and more than 18 million employees. "Caremark is pleased to have met the rigorous conditions set forth by HR Policy Association," said David Joyner, Executive Vice President, Sales and Account Services. "We see this certification as yet another way to optimize our customers' benefits investments using our service solutions - The Right Drug - which promotes lower-cost, clinically-appropriate drugs through formularies and maximizing generics; The Right Way - which reduces drug utilization through clinical management and prescription processing and administration; and The Right Place - which promotes the lowest-cost delivery channel through mail and specialty pharmacies." Client-specific expectations around transparency are varied, so Caremark's approach is to work with each HR Policy Association employer individually to fully understand their service and contracting requirements. This helps Caremark to better understand a customer's savings and risk philosophy, which is turned into an appropriate service offering that can be contracted based upon HR Policy Association and Caremark's agreed-upon bidding requirements. The mission of the HR Policy Association is to assist large employers in using the collective leverage of the member companies to further critically important business and societal objectives. The HR Policy Association certification reinforces that, working with Caremark, customers can achieve the lowest net cost for their drug benefit as part of their effort to optimize their health investments. And by providing HR Policy Association companies additional contracting options, Caremark and the HR Policy Association will aggressively explore all possible avenues to drive lowest net costs.
