Dana Corporation to Launch Centennial Celebration at SAE World
Congress TOLEDO, Ohio, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dana
Corporation announced today that it plans to launch its
centennial-year celebration at the Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE) World Congress, held March 8-11 in Detroit, Mich. "As Dana
celebrates 100 years of advancing the science of mobility, it is
only fitting that we have a major presence at our industry's most
comprehensive technology event," said Chuck Heine, Dana's president
of technology development. "Dana's history is one of innovation,
but even more important is how we are leveraging that strong
heritage to the future benefit of our customers. The SAE show is
the ideal venue to demonstrate this." In addition to the customary
technical presentations and exhibition, the 2004 SAE World Congress
will feature the Dana Technical Innovation Forum. Located on the
exhibit floor, this forum will play host to a number of select,
high-interest technical sessions -- including those from the SAE
High- Performance Vehicles program, which makes its debut this
year. The forum is open to all attendees. Dana has also organized
an extensive exhibit of its latest technologies so that attendees
can see first-hand how Danais advancing the automotive industry.
The Dana exhibit will be organized around five separate "building
blocks" of a vehicle where Dana has a presence -- namely
architecture (structures), chassis, driveline, engine, and
transmission. Each of these building-block segments will showcase
current Dana products and future technologies in the form of
components, modules, and X-by-wire applications, while also
highlighting related materials and process innovations. "These
displays will be representative of Dana's total capability package
and are intended to demonstrate the company's ability to provide
everything from components to complete integrated systems,
depending on the customer's needs," Mr. Heine said. "Among the Dana
innovations on display will be our electro-hydraulic and electric
power-steering actuators; a high-performance, high-value electronic
differential; and our Intelligent Hydraulic Drive(TM)
regenerative-braking system." Additionally, the Dana exhibit, Booth
2979, will feature the following: - a salute to Dana's heritage,
which includes many important contributions to the automotive
industry; - a technology-review center, where Dana will offer
private technology presentations to selected customers; - an
inventors' roundtable, where Detroit-area automotive inventors can
present their ideas to Dana engineering executives; - a supplier
forum, where Tier 2 and 3 suppliers can get information about doing
business with Dana; and - a career center, where those interested
in careers with Dana can talk to recruitment officers. Dana will
host a news conference at 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, to review a
variety of new product and new business announcements. Dana's newly
appointed chief executive officer and president, Michael J. Burns,
also will be speaking at the news conference. Mr. Burns officially
begins his Dana responsibilities March 1. In addition to Mr. Burns,
a number of other Dana executives and engineers will be available
to speak with the media during the press conference and in planned
one-on-one interviews. Dana's presence at the congress is
underscored by eight technical presentations that will be made by
its engineers. Since 1947, the SAE World Congress has been the
world's largest meeting and exposition devoted to automotive
engineering and product technology. With 38,000 attendees and 1,000
exhibitors, it is the largest forum for automotive engineering,
design, and technology. Dana Corporation is a global leader in the
