EMERYVILLE, Calif.,
Sept. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/
-- LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:LF), the leader in
educational entertainment, today declared September 6th Fit Made Fun Day, a day
when families are encouraged to get up and active while having fun
together. In celebration of the launch of the LeapBand™ activity
tracker for kids, LeapFrog and soccer star Mia Hamm will host the premiere Fit Made Fun Day
event in Santa Monica, California
where more than 300 children and families will be engaged in fun
activities, attempting to become the new GUINNESS WORLD
RECORDS® record holder for multiple active play
records.
Also on September 6th,
LeapFrog is inviting families to host their own Fit Made Fun Day,
sharing images and videos across media channels including Facebook,
Twitter and Instagram. Images and videos using the hashtag
#FitMadeFun will have the chance to win one of eight prize packages
including the new LeapBand activity tracker, LeapFrog's LeapPad3
learning tablet and more.
"I am excited to participate in this great event with kids and
families. I know firsthand the challenges we face as parents to get
our kids up and active on a regular basis," said Mia Hamm, mom of three young children and
official LeapBand spokesperson. "LeapBand helps meet that challenge
by encouraging active play and focusing on health, wellness and
physical activity, all in a very kid-friendly and engaging way,
which is how kids learn best."
"Fit Made Fun Day is the perfect way to celebrate the importance
of children getting active and learning healthy habits," said
Greg Ahearn, chief marketing officer
at LeapFrog. "We are excited to work with incredible partners such
as Mia Hamm, Clif Kids, KidzBop and
Hip Hop Health to introduce our new LeapBand activity tracker for
kids. It is going to be an amazing day at the iconic Santa Monica
Beach rallying children and their families as we attempt to become
the new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record holder for some really fun
activities!"
Inspired by the Partnership for a Healthier America and First
Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move!
initiative, the LeapBand activity tracker gets kids moving and
having fun with 50 different challenges, tracking a child's
physical moves so the more active a child is, the more points they
earn with their virtual pet. As the child earns points through
active play, they can unlock additional levels of play and virtual
rewards for their on-screen pet. LeapBand has an adjustable wrist
strap designed with children in mind, and high-tech features
including a built-in accelerometer, a high-resolution color screen,
a rechargeable battery and water-resistant design, making it the
ultimate activity wearable for kids.
