PR Newswire (US)
Nissim: Thomson Ceases Sales of ClearPlay DVD Players BOCA RATON,
Fla., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to Nissim Corp.'s notice
of the unlicensed infringement of Nissim's U.S. patents, Thomson
(NYSE:TMS) has informed Nissim that "Thomson has ceased and
desisted from any and all future sale, manufacturing, or promotion
of product model number DRC232N as well as any other ClearPlay
enabled DVD players in the United States." Nissim has also received
assurances from Principle Solutions, Inc., which had been offering
an infringing product similar to ClearPlay known as MovieMask, that
it will also "honor Nissim's U.S. patents." Nissim's commitment to
aggressively promote and protect its CustomPlay MediaCenter
proprietary technologies was evidenced by the fact that on May 13,
2004, Nissim filed a complaint against ClearPlay charging the
infringement of Nissim's patents arising from the sale of the RCA
branded ClearPlay enabled DVD player model DRC232N launched
nationally through Wal-Mart. (Nissim Corp. vs. ClearPlay, Inc.,
Matthew Jarman and Lee Jarman, USDC, South District of Florida,
Case No. 04-21140.) CustomPlay MediaCenter is an operating system
middle layer that enables all-in-one home entertainment set-top
players to synergistically integrate the most advanced set of

implements revolutionary autoactive media controls and innovative
features that provide unparallel playback of a full spectrum of
digital content. CustomPlay MediaControls include time management,
