    ARCO Declares Regular Quarterly Dividend on Three Classes of Stock

LOS ANGELES, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCO's Board of Directors (NYSE: ARC) today
declared regular quarterly dividends on three classes of the company's stock.

A dividend of 71.25 cents a share was declared on Common Stock payable September
15 to stockholders of record August 15.  This dividend reflects the 2-for-1 
stock split that took effect on June 13.

A dividend of 75 cents a share was declared on $3 Cumulative Convertible
Preference Stock payable September 19 to stockholders of record August 15.  

A dividend of 70 cents a share was declared on $2.80 Cumulative Convertible
Preference Stock payable September 19 to stockholders of record August 15.
