Haydale Graphene Industries plc
('Haydale' or the 'Group')
Partnership with Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre
Haydale, (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is
pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of the core
Tier One partners of the University of Manchester's recently
completed GBP60 million Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre
("GEIC").
Following previous work with the National Graphene Institute in
Manchester, Haydale has partnered with the GEIC and will install
and commission one of its HT60 plasma reactors into the new
facility in Manchester that functionalises and improves dispersion
of graphene and other 2D materials. Haydale will also sponsor a PhD
student in this facility for four years.
The University of Manchester is where graphene was first
isolated and the GEIC is expected to be a world centre of
excellence for research into commercial graphene applications. As a
Tier One partner, and with an installed patented plasma reactor,
Haydale's technology and people will be closely integrated with
this research and will collaborate to expand the opportunity set
for Graphene.
Commenting on the partnership with the GEIC, Haydale Chairman,
David Banks, said: "We are really delighted to be a part of the
application's development focus for graphene products in the GEIC.
We are housing our patented HT60 plasma reactor in the building to
help further functionalisation and applications knowledge across a
range of graphene and other 2D materials where correct chemical
bonding is a key part of the dispersion techniques we employ."
Commenting on the partnership with the GEIC, Haydale CEO, Ray
Gibbs, said: "This initiative is attracting national and
international collaboration partners to a world-renowned graphene
and nanomaterials research and development facility. We are looking
forward to adding real value to potential and existing business
partners looking for application specific uplifts in improving
performance across a range of products."
