OEM plc ("OEM" or "the Company")

At the Annual General Meeting of the Company held on 8 December 2000,
shareholders granted the Company authority to purchase up to 1,003,402
ordinary shares. The Company announces that it has today, with the assistance
of its financial adviser, Brown Shipley, repurchased 41,476 (0.5 per cent.)
ordinary shares at a price of 31p per share. The issued share capital
following cancellation of the shares repurchased will be 7,985,744 ordinary
shares.

Chairman, Robert Noonan, commented:

"I am extremely pleased to report that 123 (21.4 per cent.) of our registered
shareholders took advantage of the share buyback scheme and were able to
benefit by dealing free of costs. Shareholders with a continuing interest in
the Company will also benefit due to the fact that the redemption price was
below the net asset value per share, although the effect on published net
asset value per share will be negligible."
