24 August 2017 - 11:00PM
Sophos (LSE:SOPH), a global leader in network and endpoint security
today announced that the Anti-Malware Testing Standards
Organization (AMTSO) has elected Norm Laudermilch, chief
information security officer (CISO) at Sophos, to its Board of
Directors. AMTSO is an international non-profit association that
focuses on addressing the global need for improvement in the
objectivity, quality, and relevance of anti-malware testing
methodologies. Laudermilch is the third Sophos representative to
serve on the Board of AMTSO during its nine-year history.
“Sophos values and supports independent testing as vital to the
continued improvement of security technology and the reputation of
the security industry as a whole,” commented Norm Laudermilch, CISO
at Sophos. “We continue to believe that there should be a
partnership between the testing labs, vendors, analysts, and
industry academics to drive transparency and trust in
methodologies. I am proud to be elected to the Board of AMTSO, who
are considered a world-leading organization for setting and
maintaining rigorous standards in anti-malware testing.”
Sophos is one of the original founding members of AMTSO, which
was established in 2008 to improve business conditions related to
the development, use, testing, and rating of anti-malware products
and solutions. AMTSO now has more than 50 member companies across
the security industry and is open to academics, reviewers,
publications, testers, and vendors, subject to guidelines
determined by AMTSO.
“Sophos has been an active and supportive member of AMTSO over
the last nine years. We are grateful for their commitment and very
pleased to welcome Norm Laudermilch to our Board of Directors,”
said John Hawes, chief operating officer for AMTSO. “Norm has been
a leading voice in the security industry for more than 25 years and
we value the expertise and perspective he brings to the
membership.”
Laudermilch is a security veteran with more than 25 years of
technical and executive-level experience. Laudermilch joined Sophos
in 2017 following the acquisition of Invincea, where he was chief
operating officer. Prior to Invincea, he served as CISO for a
division of Verizon. Laudermilch has extensive mobile security
experience, having served as CTO and co-founder of mobile security
provider Trust Digital. As a vice president at Verisign and
Symantec, Laudermilch oversaw the security services groups. In his
earlier career, Laudermilch also served as global director of
information security at UUNET, the world’s first internet service
provider, and is a co-founder of the Internet Service Provider
Security Working Group (ISPSEC).
