'If you are like most Pentecostals and Charismatic believers,
you have probably heard the phrase, The Azusa Street Revival. But
how much do you know, or how much have you heard about Azusa
Street?' --Mary Peninger
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Mary Peninger's new book introduces readers to
the Azusa Street Revival.
The Azusa Street Revival was the origin of the Pentecostal
movement. From 1906 to 1915, African American preacher William J. Seymour led a growing group of
followers in worship as they sought spiritual experiences. Azusa
Street was a Christian revival that radiated from a mission house,
which was once used as a stable. Azusa touched this world for
Jesus Christ. So powerful was the
Azusa Street Revival that its effects are still being felt over 110
years later.
As a Bible teacher, and as a student of Church history,
Mary Peninger became intrigued with
the Azusa Street story. Mary wanted to share the Azusa Street
Revival with other believers. She created, and taught, the short
series of lessons found within "Spirit - Empowered: Azusa Street
Revisited" as a way to introduce others to the Azusa Street
Revival. This book is a brief look back in time and a visit to the
Azusa Street Revival.
