Siemens AG (SIE.XE) said Tuesday that it has signed a contract
with Finland's Lempaalan Energia to build a self-sufficient smart
grid in the Marjamaki industrial area.
Siemens is responsible for designing and engineering the
medium-voltage microgrid, the grid automation system and an
electrical storage system, it said.
The grid will be supplied by two clusters of solar panels with
an annual output of 3,600 megawatt hours, while any excess energy
will be directed into Finland's national grid, Siemens said.
Siemens didn't disclose financial details of the contract.
