I think they had 50 then 65 and now 80

I read - about the Scandinavian Fund which DID NOT SELL ONE SHARE OF NKLA - but whose ownership went from 5% to 4% last quarter due to increase in share count (apparently large enough to take them from 5% to below 4%) . The article that spoke to this - briefly - noted the NKLA had tried to raise 300MM dollars in December via convertible debt and or equity

so - that is what I read - and my question is --- Did NKLA make this try? And if it did --- Did it succeed ?

I could care less if it added 300MM debt (convertible) but got 300MM cash

nkla burned through an average of almost $50 mil a month last year...their debt was $350mil...and their cash on hand was $200 mil...

another $40 mil or so of massive dilution only prolongs the inevitable...

there was an overkill of the share price with rumors of bankruptcy so the pps has bounced back a bit...

BUT I do hope the business continues and is successful. they are so close . As stated previously the stock may no longer be relevant if bought out by private investor through and arranged bankruptcy to handle current debt.

Now I am glad I got some .47s for the trade. Maybe make a little money back here, would be nice if they found someone to purchase significant portion of it rather than going BK route.

Just looks like some short covering and a few repositioning their entry points. This will more than likely end in the red, no positive catalysts left. Once BK is called then you may get a dead cat bounce but nothing else left for this equity. Unless you are trading for pennies, in and out.

At this point - given my sense of the cash needed - and how companies to not buy trucks from companies rumored to be one foot in the grave --- I will take any and all deals that leave me a FUN level interest and ownership in NKLA. The 1:30 and then the decline from $31 a share to $20 to $10 to 50 cents already beat up the first speculation. So right now - if some company wants to buy NKLA but keep us around - maybe for a next IPO-SPO ---- using 60MM as the true outstanding shares (post 1:30) -- NKLA could issue say $540 MM shares at a $1 - giving that company 90% ownership - and NKLA then has a partner- "owners" - and 500M in cash for say 12-18 months to get CASH even

1. Hedge funds - as a GAMBLE
2. Speculators as a speculation

3. Brokerage firms. I assume a TON of NKLA stock has been shorted ever since the 1 for 30 - all the way down. While Naked shorting is illegal - brokerage firms often (big time) lend a short seller THE STOCK" from another person's account. In essence - if I am right - the brokerage company - like Schwab who just bough a bunch - wants (needs) to hold as many shares as are shorted AT THE FIRM (and then works inside the firm to try and make sure that those who shorted have strong finances - are certified investors (qualified?) and have lots and lots of margin space

I expect - if NKLA goes 11 - that stock holders (current !!) can bring a civil suit against that crook and in 3-6 years might collect that 150MM (if he has it)

again - I wonder but do not know --- I assume the reduced number or shares were priced for a day or two at about 25X current value --- so maybe if you knew it was a scam - with that RS - you should have sold then? Just asking --- as I lost a bit more -- but NKLA was a small part of individual stock part of portfolio which was never in total more than 5% (and right now FNMA and FNMAS etc are up 500% from lows so just about breaking even on SPEC)

As for the RSs thats how you have to fund companies as they build low volume (hence high cost and negative margin) vehicles to get their first customers. Those customers are now adding to their EV/FCEV fleet as the the driving experience is so much better than diesel

In hindsight they should have been raising significantly more cash when doing capital raises. I am not sure if there ever was a parter who would have injected significant cash for a share of the business. There were also some side avenues like building their own hydrogen production capability which was way to soon - in hindsight.

I still hope the factory and business survive but don't see a future for NKLA the stock

UK, I agree with you. I don't understand why the restitution hasn't been collected, and indeed it would have helped a lot. I'm frustrated that though there is a settlement against Milton, that there hasn't been a quick collection of funds. This is a breakdown in our justice system, as I see it.

2 1/2 yrs ago, the founder and ceo of Nkla was sentenced to 4 yrs in prison for fraud…

I don’t believe there has been any fraud recently…just ineptness and a very bad business model…

But clearly, there has absolutely been fraud in their history…

there is no fraud.

I lost far more than $10k on this and the fuel cell stocks. the business strategy was fine but in NKLAs case they hit some issues - the BEV recalls for sure was a problem.
Things take longer than mgt planned and of course policy changes cant help.

I learned a lot about cutting losses and I keep watching as I believe i limiting emissions and this is a great product. When the time is right and if they are still tradable and not private then I will jump in again but they need to be operating cash flow positive.

Far fewer mgt issues here than with PLUG though

their filings and reports have been clear since Girsky took over. They needed $100m a quarter - reduced by making cuts to c $30m a quarter
they originally were targeting 12 months cash then that got reduced in order to minimize dilution - to 3-6 months cash and the Q3 report said they had cash to just scrape through Q1.
Their sales strategy was laid out as they lose money on every FCEV colsd the customer had to be part of the national account approach and we saw 10 and 30 unit orders with major trucking companies being fulfilled and great reviews.

but national account s have yet to comit to 100+ orders against whic they could make the supply chain commitments to build FCEV 2.0 which is 50% cheaper in parts.

They could just go and get another $500m from another R/S. or they can restructure the debt commitments and start over in my view as part of a private equity firm who would fund the 6 months needed to get to a operations cash flow positive quickly

Actually "inept" is the correct term. They did an RS, already wiping out common holders. If they clearly understood the first thing about capital preservation and managing cash burn they would have been doing the correct things for survival. Cut management salaries or suspend them, cut staff, sell excess components. It could have been done with some additional dilution.

Mgt team have been running a battle and losing. not inept but it takes time to get the volume commitments from national fleets. the battery recall didn't help the cash flow that would have given them the 6 months needed to get to FCEV 2.0 and profitable trucks.

I am expecting chapter 11 then sold to private equity, hey are so close to being successful

I do not know how many trucks NKLA sold in Q4 as the cash was publicly running out

But - we all know that NKLA produced and fueled hundreds of trucks

Does the Arizona plant get closed and fenced in - or does someone like IVECO or HYUNDAI buy it for a dollar - assume debt and input needed cash

The Bloomberg - Yahoo - story seems to repeat what I have read on some messenger part of Facebook devoted to NKLA.

At same time - seems there are only two choices ----1) CH 11 (or worse) and 2) A merger where equity in NKLA is wiped out but maybe a bigger company takes over - with H Trucks and Battery Trucks (and HYLA ?) as subs

Oh well - on the $$ side - it hurts but the pain was a long long time ago - not today
