The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on Aug. 1 said planned maintenance on
several process at its Torrance, Calif., refinery had been
completed.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on July 31 said its Benicia, Calif.,
refinery FCCU will be out of service until mid-August for unplanned
repair to an associated compressor.
BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) will shut the largest of three crude units at
its Whiting, Indiana, refinery in fourth quarter 2012 as part of
its $4 billion upgrade, the company's CFO said on July 31. The
upgrade project is expected to be finished in the second half of
2013.
Sunoco Inc. (SUN) on July 31 restarted FCCU 868 in the Point
Breeze section of its Philadelphia refinery after 8 days of
unplanned maintenance. It wasn't clear if Alkylation unit 869,
which was shut on July 22 to repair a leak, would also restart, a
person familiar with operations at the plant said.
Valero Energy on July 31 said eight weeks of maintenance is
planned at its Houston Refinery's FCCU in September 2012.
Citgo on July 30 said the FCCU at its Lemont, Ill., refinery
would return to service within the week. It was shut on July 28 for
unplanned maintenance.
A coker at BP's 336,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Whiting,
Indiana, was still out of service on July 27; the unit was taken
down July 23, during a small fire at the facility.
Planned flaring through July 28 at ExxonMobil's (XOM) 151,000
barrel-a-day refinery in Torrance, Calif., signals the restart of
various units, according to traders doing business with the
refinery. Several units, including a coker and hydrotreater, had
been under going maintenance since early June.
