Dow Jones News
1659 GMT - Veolia is among the most-mentioned companies across
news items in the past 12 hours, according to Factiva data, after
the company said that it would sell Suez's U.K. waste business to
Macquarie Group for EUR2.4 billion. The deal addresses a request
from the U.K. antitrust watchdog and is expected to generate
earnings of 17 times 2021 Ebitda, the company said. The new,
standalone Suez--housing a number of Suez businesses that were sold
to satisfy the further EU competition concerns on the Veolia-Suez
merger--said it would study the deal with Macquarie and decide
whether to exercise its right of first refusal over the U.K. waste
business. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
