CHERRY HILL, N.J., March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TD Bank,
America's Most Convenient Bank®, will be joined by TD
Ameritrade Holding Corporation (NYSE: AMTD) and TD Auto Finance to
support Special Olympics through its annual fundraising program,
beginning March 24, 2014.
The program encourages TD customers and employees to raise funds
for Special Olympics. Last year, over $1
million was raised for Special Olympics from Maine to Florida through wristbands purchased by
customers and employees.
"TD Bank is proud to unite with our customers and employees to
support Special Olympics for a sixth year," said Fred Graziano, Executive Vice President, TD
Bank. "Special Olympics has a significant positive impact on its
athletes and their families, and we're thrilled to help further the
work they do to strengthen our communities."
"This is a cause close to our hearts," adds Talvis Love, CIO for TD Auto Finance. "These
athletes are an inspiration and that's why we are doing what we can
to support them through fundraising in our local communities. Their
example pushes us all to support inclusion and positive social
change for individuals with disabilities through advocacy,
education, and outreach."
Green and white wristbands, featuring TD Bank and Special
Olympics logos will be available for $5 each at all TD Bank stores. TD Bank customers
and non-customers can also use Penny Arcade to count and donate
their loose change with the standard fee being waived for
non-customers. As a part of TD's company-wide fundraising efforts,
employees will have the opportunity to contribute towards the
program internally through direct corporate donations.
"TD Ameritrade fosters a culture where we believe that people
matter and that it takes all of us working together to improve our
communities," said Katrina Becker,
Managing Director, Communications and Public Affairs for TD
Ameritrade. "Thousands of our employees across the U.S. support
Special Olympics through monetary contributions, and by giving
their time to volunteer. We're proud to collaborate in this
effort with TD Bank as Special Olympics inspires all of us to open
our hearts to a wider world of human talent and
potential."
The Special Olympics fundraising program runs from March 24 through May 4, 2014.
