Cisco Systems has agreed to acquire the open-source cloud company Isovalent for an undisclosed amount of money.

The networking-equipment giant said Thursday that Isovalent's team will join Cisco's Security Business Group.

Cisco said Isovalent is a major contributor to the open source technology eBPF and has led on the development of Cilium, a top cloud native solution for networking and security.

The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2024.

The deal comes about three months after Cisco said it would pay $28 billion to buy the analytics and security-software company Splunk.
