SANTA CLARA, Calif.,
Feb. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/
-- Hortonworks, Inc. ® (NASDAQ: HDP), a leading innovator
of open and connected data platforms, today announced that Pinsight
Media, a mobile data company, is leveraging Hortonworks Data
Platform (HDP™), Hortonworks DataFlow (HDF™) and Hortonworks
professional services to enhance how it ingests data from mobile
network operators. HDP and HDF will improve the scale and the speed
at which Pinsight's Data Management Platform (DMP) ingests and
processes data.
Launched in 2012, Pinsight uses verified, network-level data to
fuel intelligent brand decisions. To establish itself as the leader
in this space, Pinsight required an agile, scalable platform that
allowed it to manage a massive data lake of verified, first-party
data from mobile networks.
"We ingest over 60 terabytes of data daily from over 30 unique
sources across 65 million devices, making us the elite source for
network-level data," said Jason
Delker, Chief Technology and Data Officer at Pinsight. "As
such, we needed a platform that aligns with our commitment to
volume, veracity, velocity and variety of the data. Only
Hortonworks Data Platform provides both the agility and scale we
need to let our clients be more precise in their targeting and more
efficient with their ad buys."
To establish its first HDP cluster, Pinsight relied on the deep
subject matter expertise of Hortonworks professional services.
Since then, the volume, veracity, velocity and variety of
Pinsight's data has significantly scaled. The company continues to
rely upon Hortonworks professional services to help optimize its
architecture for both batch and streaming analysis. Pinsight Media
now manages a data lake on HDP. That lake supplies the ad tech
industry with verified, first-party data straight from the network.
This offers the most real, up-to-date view of people and their
genuine behaviors, resulting in precision targeting, minimized
waste and higher campaign ROI.
Pinsight is currently architecting capabilities to stream
analytics and create advertising logs from its partners. Using
connected data platforms from Hortonworks, including Apache Spark
and HDF, Pinsight can collect and aggregate advertising event
data from both in-house and third party sources. This capability
serves to increase the speed at which Pinsight lands behavioral and
persistent location data, reducing data fragmentation and
increasing real-time ad delivery.
"The combination of HDP and HDF helps telecommunications
providers to store new types of data, retain that data longer and
join diverse datasets together to derive new insight," said
Sanjay Kumar, General Manager of
Communications & Media at Hortonworks. "Pinsight is a great
example of a mobile data company who has harnessed the value of its
data to drive business transformation, and we look forward to
continuing to work with them for even more success."
