BRUSSELS--Irish budget airline Ryanair Holdings PLC (RYA.DB)
said Wednesday it will open a second Belgian base at Brussels
Airport in February.
The company, Europe's biggest discount airline by passenger
numbers, will operate flights to 10 destinations from the airport,
which is located about 7 miles northeast of Brussels. Routes will
include Alicante, Barcelona, Ibiza, Lison, Malaga, Palma, Porto,
Rome, Valencia and Venice.
Ryanair estimated that the move will bring 1.5 million
additional passengers to Brussels airport each year and create
1,500 jobs.
The airline currently flies in Belgium from Charleroi Airport,
about 30 miles south of Brussels.
