GREENSBORO, N.C., Dec. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul has put its
corporate sustainability initiatives to use by renovating a former
University Mini Storage facility to make U-Haul products and
services more accessible to Greensboro residents and UNCG students.
Since opening on Sept. 29, U-Haul
Storage at Greensboro Coliseum at 1560 W. Gate City Blvd. has been
offering 333 indoor self-storage units with climate-control
options. Additional security improvements and property enhancements
will be completed by the spring.
"This facility is within 500 feet away of the expanding
University of North Carolina-Greensboro
campus," said Jason Grider,
U-Haul Company of Central North
Carolina president.
"U-Haul is excited to expand in this area and make our products
and services more convenient to these students, helping them when
it comes time to find a self-storage space. Whether they are
arriving for their freshman year, leaving for summer break or
getting ready for graduation, we are proud to be part their college
experience."
The 53,700-square-foot Coliseum facility is operated by U-Haul
Moving & Storage at UNCG and offers U-Haul Remote 24/7®
self-storage access along with the ability to rent via smartphone
or tablet.

The recent acquisition of the Greensboro facility was driven by U-Haul
Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports
infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon
footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the
amount of energy and resources required for new-construction
materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of
unused buildings.
"We are happy to keep an existing building in place," Grider
said. "This building was originally built in 1936 and it has seen
this area grow over the years. We are committed to lowering our
carbon footprint, and our adaptive reuse practices will help us
achieve this."
U-Haul intends to hire locally as services expand. Grider
intends to employ an additional five Team Members at the UNCG store
once the Coliseum location is fully operational. Learn more about
