(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) Visteon's product lineup for CES 2005 demonstrates Visteon's knowledge of consumer expectations and the electronics and lighting products that offer distinctive features for each make and model. "All across the globe, people are spending nearly twice the number of hours in their cars as they did five years ago," said Martin Thoone, Visteon's electronics product line director. "This increase is in both commuting time and pleasure trips. This means drivers are looking for quality audio and entertainment systems, including digital technologies like HD Radio(TM), satellite radio, branded audio and CD6/MP3 music systems. In addition, they are looking for driver information and awareness technologies to help improve visibility and focus on the task at hand." Visteon uses award-winning consumer research methods to conduct studies and analyze feedback. The challenge for the supplier is to understand the automaker's design intent and brand image for each vehicle, apply the findings from the consumer research, and deliver innovative technology quickly. This combination of learning helped guide the development of industry-leading audio and infotainment systems, driver awareness and lighting technologies. Since 2001, brand studies have shown that more than 90 percent of new car buyers consider the audio system an important factor in purchase decisions and more than 40 percent of mid- and luxury-car buyers perceive themselves as audiophiles. Applying this information, Visteon developed a broad range of audio systems and family entertainment systems, from premium-branded audio to a variety of digital audio systems. Visteon and Boston Acoustics teamed up in 2002 to bring branded Boston Acoustics audio to the vehicle. The results of this partnership are now in production on several Chrysler and Jeep vehicles. Through a new partnership with Boston Acoustics and Dolby Laboratories, Visteon is offering automakers a branded Boston Acoustics, Dolby(R) Pro Logic(R) II, DVD-Audio, family entertainment system. This system also features the first wireless Dolby Headphone solution. Digital audio products offer CD-quality audio for the driver and the passengers. Visteon developed one of the first automotive applications of digital signal processing, which entered the marketplace on a variety of vehicles as early as 1995. Today, Visteon offers a variety of digital systems including HD Radio, satellite radio (both XM and SIRIUS) and Eureka 147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB). A new entry is Dockable Family Entertainment System(TM) which is truly portable and offers a larger viewing area. These systems are currently available in the marketplace as aftermarket products. In addition, this year Visteon will announce a new level of distinction. Not only is Visteon the first supplier of an integrated, factory-installed voice-activated Bluetooth(R) wireless system in automotive production on both sides of the ocean, but later this year Visteon will move into high-volume production of this system for the North American market. Today, Visteon supplies the MACH(R) Voice Link for automakers in Europe and North America on several vehicles. Electronic devices meet consumer demands for increased style and information. Studies show that drivers are looking for awareness technologies that provide increased information like side object awareness, back-up cameras and instrument clusters that are functional and offer unique styling. In addition, drivers and automakers alike are seeing value in light emitting diode (LED) lighting to add styling and functional options for increased visibility inside and outside the vehicle, from front and rear lights to interior door panel lighting. Visteon will demonstrate a variety of unique, highly-styled instrument clusters, driver awareness technologies and lighting systems that will help make drivers better drivers. Sight, sound and touch are the senses that help consumers define the technology that helps make traveling more comfortable. Visteon meets the needs of these senses through audio, entertainment, visibility and information that will make driving more enjoyable for consumers. Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service supplier that delivers consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket. Visteon has about 72,000 employees and a global delivery system of more than 200 technical, manufacturing, sales and service facilities located in 25 countries. http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO DATASOURCE: Visteon Corporation CONTACT: Media Inquiries: Robin Pannecouk, +1-734-710-5575, , or Jim Fisher, +1-734-710-5557, , both of Visteon Corporation Web site: http://www.visteon.com/
