By all accounts, the 2011 Catholic Charities / Aetna Golf
Classic was a “birdie” nearly doubling over last year the funds
raised to support people in need throughout Fairfield County.
More than 100 golfers and guests participated in the event,
which was held June 13 at the Shorehaven Club in Norwalk and
staffed by volunteers from Catholic Charities and Aetna (NYSE:
AET).
“Aetna was proud to be the title sponsor of this golf event for
the sixth consecutive year, and we are extending our commitment to
next year as well,” said Brad Morse, Aetna vice president of sales
and service for New England. “We are proud to team up with Catholic
Charities in support of its great programs in Fairfield County,
including their network of soup kitchens and food pantries and the
Room To Grow preschool.”
“Catholic Charities is proud to continue its work as the largest
private provider of social and human services helping needy
individuals, families and children here in Fairfield County. We
couldn’t do it without the support of Aetna and many other
corporate and individual sponsors,” said Al Barber, President of
Catholic Charities of Fairfield County. “We serve well over one
million meals annually; provide support services to help families
with the many challenges of today’s world, and work to serve the
needy in many other ways as well. This golf outing is a fun event
that allows those of us who are more fortunate to give back to the
community in an effective way.”
Other event sponsors for 2011 included: Nestle Waters; Benefit
Planning Services; William Pitt Sotheby Realty; Denis and Britta
Nayden; The Quiddich Foundation; Tom Birkett; Tuscany Ristorante;
Brewster Honda; and Fieldstone Marketing.
The 2012 tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 11, at
Shorehaven. Businesses or individuals interested in supporting the
event are asked to contact Rosie Vite of Catholic Charities at
rvite@ccfc-ct.org or 203-416-1503.
