The American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF), a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization created by American Water (NYSE: AWK), the
nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility
company, announced today it is providing a grant of $70,000 to the
American Red Cross to individuals and families impacted by
Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and
Puerto Rico.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is pleased to join the
many others who have contributed their time and resources to
support the millions of people impacted by these devastating
storms,” said Laura Martin, president, American Water Charitable
Foundation. “We understand how critical clean, potable water is in
our daily lives and in times of emergencies, and we hope this
contribution can provide some assistance in the communities where
water or wastewater service has been disrupted.”
“American Water has been a company that places helping people
above all else. Even though their operations were not impacted by
the recent hurricanes, they have stepped up to donate generous
financial support to the families that have been severely impacted
by a lack of access to clean water,” said Barb Coury, National
Director of Foundation and Federated Giving, American Red Cross.
“American Water is one of the best examples of a caring corporate
citizen that values an expansive mission by supporting our Red
Cross efforts to respond to disasters and help people get back on
their feet.”
The funding was made possible through the AWCF’s Disaster Relief
Grant, Volunteer and Matching Gift Programs as well as personal
donations from employees and executive leadership.
