General Motors Co. (GM) said Thursday it has reduced its
manufacturing carbon intensity since 2010 and set a new goal to
reduce emissions 31% by 2030, compared to 2010.
In its annual sustainability report Thursday, the auto maker
said renewable energy powers 20% of its electricity needs currently
and will power 100% by 2050.
GM said it will double engineering resources focused on electric
vehicle and autonomous vehicle programs in the next two years. Cars
tested by Cruise, GM's self-driving, ride-hailing subsidiary, drove
3.5-times more miles in 2018 than in 2017, GM said.
