At ACC 2008 Siemens Will Showcase Its Portfolio of Cardiovascular
Solutions CHICAGO, March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Healthcare
(http://www.usa.siemens.com/healthcare) will demonstrate how its
laboratory diagnostics, imaging and information technology (IT)
solutions are helping to "Bring a New Rhythm to Cardiology
Workflow," at the 57th Annual Scientific Session of the American
College of Cardiology (ACC) from March 30 through April 1 at booth
#3006. (Logo:

will showcase the Artis zee(R) family of interventional imaging
systems. With Artis zee systems, users can see vessel edges more
precisely, and ensure proper stent positioning within seconds. The
family's future- forward design also supports emerging therapeutic
treatments. In addition, the Artis zeego(R), which recently
received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) marketing
clearance, features a multi-axis C-arm that employs robotic
technology to extend imaging capabilities through virtually
unrestricted positioning. Also on display will be the
cardiovascular version of the ACUSON X300(TM), an all-purpose
ultrasound system that provides compact, portable color Doppler
solutions for adult, pediatric, OR, EP, and interventional
cardiology applications. Siemens will also showcase syngo(R)
Dynamics for multi-modality diagnostic image management and the
Soarian(R) Cardiology cardiovascular information system. With
Soarian Cardiology and syngo Dynamics, Siemens advances its
trendsetting strategy of delivering end-to-end IT, imaging and
workflow solutions. In a clinical environment where images are
critical to the care of a patient, physicians need all images and
data accessible at one workstation and available via a longitudinal
clinical repository. This solution helps enable the goal of a
seamless, optimized workflow for the care of the cardiovascular
patient. Siemens Users Share Best Practices At the 2008 ACC,
Siemens has asked a number of customers to present short success
stories to conference attendees about how Siemens technology has
helped them "Bring a New Rhythm to Cardiology Workflow." Topics
will range from reducing door-to-balloon time with the company's
innovative X-ray imaging systems to reducing the time it takes to
generate a cardiology report with the company's image and
information management solutions. Speakers will be at the Siemens
booth (#3006) throughout the day on Sunday March 30 and Monday
March 31. A complete schedule will be posted in the Siemens booth.
Enhancing the Cardiology Spectrum Siemens will also display its
full spectrum of cardiovascular solutions, including:
Interventional Cardiology -- The Artis zee(R) is the next
generation of interventional imaging systems. See vessel edges more
precisely, and ensure proper stent positioning within seconds.
Artis zee's future forward design also supports emerging
therapeutic treatments. In addition, the Artis zeego(R) features a
multi-axis C-arm that employs robotic technology to extend imaging
capabilities through virtually unrestricted positioning.
Cardiovascular CT -- The world's first dual source CT, the SOMATOM
Definition(TM), is faster than every heartbeat, eliminating the
need for beta blockers and reducing radiation exposure by as much
as 50 percent when compared to traditional cardiac CT imaging. In
addition to advanced imaging, syngo(R) WebSpace represents the
latest innovation in client-server solutions for CT applications
and offers real-time access to CT data at a doctor's office or
home, and even on the road through a network connection.
Information Technology -- By combining multimodality, diagnostic
image management from syngo(R) Dynamics with the nursing
documentation, orders, and outcomes analysis capabilities of
Soarian Cardiology, the Soarian Cardiology and syngo Dynamics
solution provides powerful procedural and episodic care reporting
capabilities and a cardiovascular electronic patient record (EPR)
that supports the cardiac care process. With Soarian Cardiology and
syngo Dynamics, Siemens advances its trendsetting strategy of
delivering end-to-end IT, imaging and workflow solutions. In a
clinical environment where images are critical to the care of a
patient, physicians need all images and data accessible at one
workstation and available via a longitudinal clinical repository.
This solution helps enable the goal of a seamless, optimized
workflow for the care of the cardiovascular patient. Cardiovascular
MR -- The combination of advanced speed and higher resolution
images has expanded the role of magnetic resonance imaging in
cardiology. syngo(R) Inline VF, new from Siemens, enables fully
automatic detection of heart contours and cardiac wall motion
during image acquisition. Now, this software can help physicians
more accurately assess cardiac function immediately after a scan.
Molecular Imaging -- True efficiency and integration are achieved
with Siemens' cardiology solutions, including c.cam(TM), Symbia
SPECT, Symbia SPECT-CT, and Biograph PET-CT systems. Siemens' MI
solutions provide cardiologists with functional information, such
as wall motion, myocardial perfusion, and in some cases, plaque
characterization, as well as morphological information, such as the
presence of coronary calcifications. Siemens will also highlight
PETNET, which provides biomarkers for clinical and preclinical PET
imaging through PETNET's SafetyNet(TM) international network of
more than 45 manufacturing and distribution centers.
Echocardiography -- Siemens' latest advancements in cardiac
ultrasound solutions to be highlighted include the ACUSON X300(TM),
an all-purpose ultrasound system that provides compact, portable
color Doppler solutions for Adult, Pediatric, OR, EP and
Interventional Cardiology applications with exceptional clinical
performance. Also featured at the conference are the ACUSON P50(TM)
hand-carried ultrasound system, the ACUSON AcuNav(TM) ultrasound
catheters, the ACUSON Sequoia(TM) ultrasound system, and the ACUSON
Cypress(TM) PLUS cardiovascular ultrasound system. About Siemens
