County chooses integrated Munis system to enhance functionality and reporting capabilities

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a seven-year software as a service (SaaS) agreement with Monroe County, Wisconsin, for Tyler’s Munis® enterprise resources planning (ERP) solution to replace the county’s legacy financial software system. The agreement includes related professional services, training and support.

Monroe County will implement multiple Munis applications, including financial and human capital management applications, which will enhance the county’s reporting capabilities and access to information for employees, elected officials and citizens.

The county’s competitive review focused on finding a cloud-based ERP solution from a vendor who doesn’t rely on third-party hosting services — Tyler hosts and manages its SaaS-based solutions from its data centers in Texas and Maine. Another key Monroe County requirement was for a Web- and Windows-based ERP solution that includes paperless document management, like Munis does.

By having Munis delivered via the SaaS model, Monroe County can reduce upfront capital costs, IT personnel costs, license fees and hardware costs. Additionally, because Munis is available anytime and anywhere, the county will improve accessibility and provide network access for departments that currently don’t have access.

“Munis met Monroe County’s very specific ERP solution needs, and we are pleased they selected Tyler to help enhance functionality, service and transparency,” said Chris Hepburn, senior vice president of Tyler’s ERP & School Division. “The SaaS model provides our clients with Munis’ modern technology without requiring an investment of upfront capital or a large IT team to manage servers and other related infrastructure. Tyler looks forward to working with Monroe County for many years to come.”

Monroe County is located in southwest Wisconsin and has about 45,000 residents. The city of La Crosse also uses Munis, and Portage County, Wisconsin, recently chose to implement Munis as well.
