Feb. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Ecuador Gold
& Copper Corp. (the "Company") (TSXV: EGX) is pleased to
announce the appointment of Dr. Mario I.
Blejer and Mr. Paul Jones to
the Board of Directors. The Company also announces the appointment
of Mr. James Hutton to the Advisory
Board of the Company, and the resignation of Mr. Hutton from the
Board of Directors.
Dr. Mario I.
Blejer is an independent economic consultant who holds a
degree in Economics and Jewish History and a Master's Degree in
Economics from the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem as well as a Ph.D in Economics from the
University of Chicago.
Dr. Blejer has published several articles on
macroeconomic and financial stability subjects. He served for
twenty years in different departments of the International Monetary
Fund. In 2002, Dr. Blejer was appointed Chairman of the
Central Bank of Argentina and
during 2003 he was appointed Director of the Center for Studies of
Central Banks of the Bank of England. In 2009, Dr. Blejer was
appointed Deputy Chairman of Banco Hipotecario SA which trades on
the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange. Dr. Blejer also sits on the
board of directors of IRSA Inversiones y Representaciones SA ADR,
which trades on the New York Stock
Exchange.

The Company would also like to welcome Mr.
Paul Jones to the Board of
Directors. Mr. Jones has served in numerous engineering,
operations, senior management and consulting positions as well as a
director in public and private companies active in the Americas,
Africa and Asia during his career in the mining industry,
which spans over 50 years. Mr. Jones is a Legion of Honour
member of the Society of Mining Engineers where he has been a
member since 1958, and is a member and officer of the Mining and
Metallurgical Society of America. In February 2004, Mr. Jones received the William
Lawrence Saunders Gold Medal from the American Institute of Mining,
Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers in recognition of his service
to the public and the mining industry.
Mr. Jones replaces Mr. Hutton, who has resigned
from the Board of Directors but has been appointed to the Advisory
Board and Mr. Blejer is added as an additional director increasing
the size of the Board to five directors. The Board thanks Mr.
Hutton for his contributions to the Company and looks forward to
working with him as a member of the Advisory Board.
The Company would also like to announce that Mr.
Mit Tilkov, who currently holds the position of VP Exploration for
the Company, will be replacing Mr. Robin
Slaughter as General Manager of Condormining Corporation,
S.A., the Company's 90%-owned subsidiary which holds the Company's
mineral properties in Ecuador.
Mr. Tilkov graduated from the University of Waterloo with a B.Sc Geology degree
and has over 30 years of experience mostly with Cominco and
thereafter Teck-Cominco where he was responsible for resource
estimation and new business development. His most recent position
was as President of FDG Mining - a Nicaragua gold exploration company. Mr. Tilkov
is a registered Professional Geologist in British Columbia and is the Company's in house
Qualified Person for the purposes of National Instrument
43-101.
