SMITHS FALLS, ON, Dec. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian AIDS Society
(CAS) is today launching the first installment in a three-part
webinar series to educate people living with various medical
conditions and community-based service providers about medical
marijuana use.
Tweed recently provided an unrestricted $25,000 grant to CAS for the development of the
series that focuses on the science of cannabis as a therapy, the
rules and regulations surrounding access, and different ways to
consume cannabis for safer use and better health.
"Tweed is proud to support this initiative," said Bruce Linton, Chairman and Co-founder of Tweed.
"Educating physicians and their patients is at the heart of
everything we do at Tweed."
The content was developed by CAS in collaboration with the
Medical Cannabis National Advisory Committee (MCNAC) and Dr.
Daniel Schecter, a practicing family
physician and the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the
Cannabinoid Medical Clinic.
MCNAC includes representatives from the Canadian Treatment
Action Council, the Canadian Association of Medical Cannabis
Dispensaries, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Pain
Coalition, the Chronic Pain Association of Canada, the Drug Users Advocacy League and
Positive Living BC.
Many of the representatives have lived experience with the use
of cannabis for medical purposes.
