Compass Group PLC said on Tuesday that pretax profit for the
first half of fiscal 2020 fell after booking higher costs and that
the company was withdrawing guidance for the year due to the
coronavirus pandemic.
The U.K. catering contractor said pretax profit for the six
months ended March 31 was 771 million pounds ($936.7 million)
compared with GBP852 million for the first half of fiscal 2019.
Revenue was GBP12.48 billion compared with GBP12.32 billion the
year before. The company said revenue was driven by organic growth
offset by the negative effect of the virus.
