CareTech Charitable Foundation: Update and Key Appointments
CareTech Holdings PLC (AIM:CTH), a pioneering provider of
specialist social care services in the UK, is pleased to announce
the appointment of a highly experienced interim CEO for the
CareTech Charitable Foundation, the first such corporate foundation
in the UK care sector.
Jonathan Freeman, the former Managing Director of Mosaic, HRH
The Prince of Wales' mentoring charitable initiative, has been
appointed as Interim CEO of the Foundation with responsibility for
setting the strategic vision and driving forward its partnership
network. He is joined by Foundation Manager Sara Smith, who brings
with her a wealth of experience from charities including Business
in the Community and The Prince's Trust International.
The CareTech Charitable Foundation is an independent charity
with ambitious objectives to deliver meaningful impact to
communities in need in the UK and overseas.
The Foundation's work will be focused on the following three key
objectives:
-- the support of disabled people and those with long-term
health difficulties, including those with mental health conditions
and complex physical and learning disabilities
-- skills development for the care sector, particularly for
those from deprived and disadvantaged backgrounds to enable them to
pursue careers in the care sector
-- the support of CareTech service users, employees and their
families and the communities in which CareTech operates
The CareTech Charitable Foundation is an independent
grant-making corporate foundation registered with the Charity
Commission (Charity Number 1173154). With more than 280,000 adults
in England aged 18-65 reliant on social care, the CareTech
Foundation will play an important role in supporting the care
sector and the communities in which it operates.
CareTech's senior executive management are trustees of the
Foundation including CareTech's Executive Chairman, Farouq Sheikh,
Chief Executive Officer Haroon Sheikh and Group Finance Director
Michael Hill. Other trustees include disabilities rights campaigner
Mike Adams OBE, a CareTech Non-Executive Director, Akbar Sheikh,
Trustee of the Cosaraf Charitable Foundation, and CareTech staff
member Jon Plummer. Three external trustees will also be appointed
shortly.
Farouq Sheikh, CareTech's Executive Chairman, said:

care. The CareTech Charitable Foundation will serve as a powerful
vehicle with which to engage CareTech's people in a unique set of
programmes to help some of the most vulnerable people across
communities in the UK and overseas.

we will achieve this through a programme of partnership
grant-giving, by supporting CareTech's employees to give something
back through volunteering programmes and also launching a
match-funding programme for employees' own fundraising activities.
Additionally, we will also be supporting CareTech employees'
families, and the communities in which CareTech operates, with
funding support for those facing significant challenges."
