Meriden was advised on 26 May 2005 that City Equities Limited acquired
20,000,000 ordinary shares in the Company, representing approximately 5.8% per
cent. of the share capital of the Company, as part of the placing of new
ordinary shares announced on 19 May 2005.

City Equities Limited has now disposed of its entire shareholding to certain of
its private clients and, accordingly, it no longer has a notifiable interest in
the share capital of the Company.
