Oriel Resources plc (AIM:ORI, TSX:ORL) announces that on 26 September 2006 it
received a notification given in fulfilment of the obligations under section 198
of the Companies Act 1985 ("the Act") by Dresdner Kleinwort Group Limited, an
indirect subsidiary of Allianz AG, on behalf of Allianz AG and its subsidiaries,
advising that Allianz AG and subsidiaries (as detailed below) are interested in
9,874,143 ordinary shares representing 4.85% of the issued share capital of
Oriel Resources Plc. Included within this holding is a disclosable interest in
3.08% of the issued ordinary shares in which Dresdner Bank AG London Branch
("Dresdner") hold an interest.

Dresdner is a direct subsidiary of Allianz Finanzbeteiligungs GmbH ("Allianz
Finanz") which is itself a direct subsidiary of Allianz AG. As a result of s203
(2) of the Act, Allianz AG and Allianz Finanz are interested in Oriel Resources
Plc ordinary shares in which Dresdner is interested.
