(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) Children up to age 14 enjoyed activities ranging from computer-aided design demonstrations to manufacturing simulations using peanut butter-and- jelly sandwiches at Visteon's Corporate Offices and Innovation Center in Van Buren Township, as well as its Dearborn and Plymouth locations. While shadowing their parents or guardians during their workday, the young visitors got an inside look at one of the world's largest suppliers of automotive components and systems. They also enjoyed special activities including tours of component design and testing labs, product demonstrations, the sandwich-making manufacturing simulation, coloring contests, Lego(R) bridge-building and a paper airplane exercise aimed at teaching project management skills. "Our employees spend a large part of their day at work, and we were thrilled to give their children a chance to see what they do and what Visteon does each day," said Jennifer Karaskiewicz, Visteon's manager of diversity and work/life. "This was a great chance for these young people to see that Visteon is an interesting and fun place to work." Many of the young visitors shared that view. "I liked learning how the parts work and what the engineers do," said Alison Zacharias, 13, of Canton, whose father, Steve, is a controller for Visteon's Ford customer business group at Visteon Village in Van Buren Township.
