MUNICH, July 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- German
startup holoride announced today its CEO and co-founder,
Nils Wollny, was honored as a
'Rising Star' for 2020 by Automotive News Europe in the
Entrepreneur category, an award which recognizes executives in the
automotive industry who have driven change, fostered innovation and
made courageous decisions.
In 2018, Nils and holoride co-founders Marcus Kuehne and Daniel Profendiner decided
more needed to be done to turn transit time into valuable time.
With this in mind, they created a revolutionary new media category
for passengers by connecting extended reality (XR) content with
data points from vehicles in real-time, transforming everyday
journeys into hyper-immersive experiences.
Since then, holoride has become the leader of in-vehicle
entertainment, being named the best of CES 2019 by TechCrunch and
one of TIME Magazine's 100 Best Inventions of 2019. The company was
recently awarded a Grand Prix in the digital media category at the
prestigious Art Directors Club (ADC) Awards in Germany.
"I'm honored to receive this award, especially on behalf of all
holoriders who push the boundaries of what's possible. From the
beginning, we've made it our goal to drive innovation in the auto
industry by helping car manufacturers prioritize the passenger
experience," says Nils Wollny, CEO
and co-founder of holoride. "This year, we're looking forward to
working with more content studios, developers and mobility
providers to not only offer entertainment, but explore educational,
well-being, and productivity options as well. In our current
climate, virtual reality content has numerous benefits for learning
and productivity, and presents a key opportunity for the auto
industry to support passengers in a meaningful way."
holoride has already teamed up with leading car manufacturers
and content creators to bring their vision to life, including Audi,
Porsche and the Discovery Channel. In October 2019, they launched the first in-vehicle
VR experience available to the public in partnership with Ford,
REWIND and Universal Pictures called Bride of Frankenstein
holoride. In recognition of their work on Bride of Frankenstein
holoride, the partners were awarded the 2020 Auggie Award for best
location-based entertainment which is considered the most
recognized AR & VR awards show in the world.
In April 2020, holoride announced
the formation of their strategic advisory board with major industry
leaders and pioneers from tech, mobility and Hollywood to continue their endeavor in
driving the future of in-vehicle entertainment.
Prior to co-founding holoride, Nils served as Head of Digital
Business at Audi where he was responsible for digital services and
platforms. He is passionate about mobility and media and was named
one of the "40 under 40" high-potential managers by the renowned
German publication "Automobilwoche" in 2018.
