OTTAWA,
ON, July 16, 2024 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the
Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General and
Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will
preside over the ceremony marking the Change of Command of the
Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Chief of the Defence Staff from General
Wayne Eyre to Lieutenant-General
Jennie Carignan, who will be promoted to general that same
morning.
Upon her arrival, the Governor General will receive military
honours and inspect a guard of honour. During the ceremony, Her
Excellency will sign the change of command certificates and present
the CAF Ensign to General Carignan, the newly appointed chief of
the Defence Staff. The Governor General will also address CAF
members and guests.
